The BioData.pt | ELIXIR-PT All Hands 2025 will take place on the 17th to 19th of November (lunch to lunch) in Porto, and will be hosted by UCIBIO.

Join the rest of the BioData.pt community for 3 days for the opportunity to help shape the future of Life and Health data in the country!

      In this session will be provided an overview of ELIXIR Portugal main achievements in 2025 and present the development of the GLIM-BioData project. Highlights include the launch of the Microbiome and Biodiversity Communities, updates on OSCARS project submissions (including the funded Yeastract+), and briefings on ongoing EC and ELIXIR projects. The session will conclude with a look ahead to 2026 and the release of the report “BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal – a gateway for living data management".

        Room 1 will focus on the 2025 achievements of BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal communities across multiple domains, including plants, biodiversity, food and nutrition, microbial biotechnology, systems biology, 3D-bioinfo, and microbiome research. The discussion will also highlight ongoing collaborations and future initiatives for 2026 aimed at strengthening data sharing, reuse, and interoperability.

        Management of Sensitive Life and Health Data for Sharing and Reuse

        Room 2 will review the 2025 achievements of the Federated Human Data and Microbiome communities, with an emphasis on advances in managing and sharing sensitive data. The session will explore ongoing projects that enhance data governance, security, and controlled access, and will discuss upcoming actions to reinforce federated infrastructures and enable FAIR, privacy-preserving data reuse across national and European contexts.

      This session will introduce the vision and structure of the EOSC Federation, a major European initiative designed to enable open and secure access to research data and services across borders and disciplines. Participants will gain insight into the strategic importance of EOSC in supporting collaborative and data-driven science in Europe. In the second part of the session, we will address the EOSC strategy within ELIXIR Europe, highlighting the role of life sciences in shaping the EOSC ecosystem.

      This session will bring together representatives from the Portuguese nodes of the EOSC-Life institutions, along with the EU lead of the MIRRI infrastructure. The panel will discuss how Portuguese life science infrastructures can strengthen their capacity to meet the challenges posed by the EOSC, particularly in the areas of training and the management of physical and computational resources. The discussion will also focus on identifying opportunities for alignment and collaboration among these national entities, ensuring a more coordinated contribution to the European research ecosystem and a sustainable integration within the EOSC framework.
