Join us for the kick-off meeting of GLIM

Registration is free, but mandatory.

Be part of the launch of the GLIM-BioData Project: Gateway for Living Data Management, an innovative initiative spearheaded by BioData.pt and ELIXIR-PT. This project arises from the critical need to manage, curate, and share life and health data more effectively in Portugal, while aligning with European standards for Open Science and FAIR data principles. GLIM builds on BioData.pt's extensive expertise as a leading infrastructure in biological and health data management.

About the Project

The GLIM-BioData Project is designed to address key challenges in research data management by:

  • Promoting the sharing and reuse of sensitive and non-sensitive life and health data through the development of best practices and innovative curation methods.
  • Enhancing Portugal’s participation in European data infrastructures, such as the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA) and the 1+ Million Genomes Initiative.
  • Providing state-of-the-art training programs to equip researchers and data stewards with the skills needed to implement Open Science practices.
  • Establishing a sustainable data ecosystem to foster collaboration and maximize the societal impact of research outcomes.

Event Highlights

  • Opening Remarks: Kick off the day with greetings from BioData.pt and ELIXIR-PT leadership.
  • Project Vision & Work Plan: Learn about the project's origin, goals, and roadmap from Inês Chaves, the project coordinator.
Breakout Sessions: Engage in focused discussions on the project’s core work packages:
    • WP2: Management of Non-sensitive Life Data for Sharing and Reuse.
    • WP3: Handling Sensitive Life and Health Data in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
    • WP4: Training and Capacity Building for researchers and data stewards.
    • WP5: Ensuring Sustainability and Long-term Impact.
Collaborative Insights: Teams will present their plans and foster dialogue on aligning research efforts across disciplines.

Why Attend?

This meeting provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Understand how GLIM-BioData aims to revolutionize data management in life and health sciences.
  • Explore how the project supports national and European research ecosystems, promoting interoperability and collaboration.
  • Network with leading researchers, data stewards, and policymakers who are shaping the future of data-driven science in Portugal.

Travel Grants

In order to promote meeting participation, BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal provides financing for 1 associate, 1 element of each community, and 1 element of each platform. Our financing package includes accommodation for 2 nights in a double room and transportation via public transit.
